Our Experience

The founding principals of Dynamix, Eugene Griffin, P.E. and Todd Mace, P.E., have over 40 years combined experience in engineering. The firm is one of the largest minority owned mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology engineering firms in the Midwest.

Dynamix Engineering prides itself on being a good team member and works well with the owners’ staff, architects, structural engineers, and other consultants. They share a common vision about engineering quality and customer service: by viewing the owner as a true partner in the project, Dynamix forges client relationships that last far beyond the latest project.

Understanding what our client needs and offering guidance to meet those needs has earned Dynamix its loyal client base.

Building Information Modeling

Dynamix Engineering uses Revit Software to create 3-D models of their engineering systems. Designing projects in 3-D improves the coordination process, increases efficiency and offers an opportunity to the client for enhanced visual conception of their project. This process can not only provide for a new level of conflict recognition and interactive design, but also will provide for greater levels of contract delivery and building management as the technology is realized for its potential.

There are numerous advantages that engineers/designers can benefit from when producing construction documents in 3D design software like Revit. Being able to model each different system and associated devices while coordinating their locations relative to one another in the third dimension is one advantage. Additionally, the interaction between the architectural files with the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology files helps to properly calculate building loads. This technique allows for more realistic modeling of a building.

QA/QC Process

The Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) process ensures that the highest quality documents are produced and issued by Dynamix Engineering. During the QA/QC process, drawings are reviewed for completeness, accuracy, use of standards, constructability and other key items. The company has three levels of functional project checking. Each phase of a project is assessed by a peer.

Before a project leaves the office, Team Leaders, Senior Managers and Principals review the project as well. Each project receives a final grade and the owner/client is welcome as part of the process.

Technology Experience

Dynamix Engineering has a technology engineering team comprised of RCDD's with specialty certifications including Outside Plant, Network Transmissions and A/V systems. Dynamix provides engineering design for all low voltage systems including data, voice, central sound, gym sound, classroom sound reinforcement, theatre sound, streaming video, video distribution, clock systems, surveillance, building intrusion and door access control.

We continually attend BiCSi conferences and key national trade shows to stay current with the latest trends and offerings in technology, such as streaming video, emerging wireless technology and the increasing number of IP applications like voice, video surveillance and remote systems access.

Sustainable Design

The USGBC® Rating System organized a rating plan which Dynamix Engineering had utilized before it was the standard. Dynamix has been specifying sustainable features since the inception of the firm such as the following: water efficiency (low flow water fixtures), energy performance optimizing systems, building commissioning proponents, lighting flexibility, thermal comfort that the project budget can support, and quality indoor air has been an integral part of our HVAC design. All ASHRAE Standards have been a part of our design guide.

Dynamix Engineering is proud to have designed the mechanical, electrical and technology systems for the first LEED® designed project for the Ohio School Facilities Commission. Unique features of the school include an underfloor air distribution system and LoadMatch water distribution system. These innovative approaches to hydronic heating and cooling enabled us to design and deliver more efficient systems while increasing occupant comfort, reducing energy, and saving money.

Building Automation and Controls

Dynamix Engineering has a staff of controls engineers with experience in control systems engineering, programming, installation, and commissioning. Equally important to selecting proper equipment and systems is controlling the equipment and systems properly.

The Controls Group develops building automation designs on all required projects and can provide building integration, controls installation and commissioning services.
